OUR PHILOSOPHY
A Holistic Approach
We believe that mental resilience is built by looking at the whole person rather than just isolated symptoms. Our philosophy integrates a variety of treatment modalities that are customized to meet your specific needs. Considering one's mind, body, and spirit are essential aspects to healing with lasting change.
We believe that your mental health includes not only your thoughts and feelings, but also your lifestyle, relationships, and even your environment. We support your mental health by addressing and exploring multiple layers of your well-being. We will explore:
-
Physical Health: Your body and mind are connected. Improving nutrition, exercise, and sleep can reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety.
-
Emotional Awareness: Let's look at ways to recognize and express your feelings in safe and constructive ways.
-
Mindfulness and Relaxation: Techniques like meditation, breathing exercises, and stretching help calm the nervous system and increase self-awareness.
-
Social Connection: Building supportive relationships and community ties is essential for mental wellness.
-
Spiritual Exploration: For many, spirituality or a sense of purpose provides strength and resilience during difficult times.

So you finally made the decision to start looking for a therapist! It can feel a little intimidating to start this journey, but you've taken the first step and that is no small feat. Initially, many of my clients begin therapy feeling like things in their life just aren't quite right or they aren't where they'd like to be mentally. I'm here to help you explore those issues and to make a plan for how to work through them to become the person you'd like to be.
I have worked in the mental health field since 2010 and continue to be inspired by my clients and passionate about my work. My approach to therapy is holistic, yet direct and practical in addressing real-life issues. I focus on identifying your strengths and utilizing them to create tangible change in your life.
Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, or a life transition, I'm here to provide a safe and supportive space for you to work through this difficult time. We will focus on self-awareness, healthy coping skills, and solutions to get you feeling better. I look forward to meeting you!
As a native of this area and a lover of the coast, I often see a parallel between therapy and the salt marsh. During a storm, the salt marsh acts as a life-sustaining buffer, absorbing surges and protecting the mainland from erosion. It serves as a safe haven for local wildlife while filtering pollutants and maintaining water quality.
Similarly, therapy acts as a filter for individuals navigating the storm of mental illness, unhealthy relationships, and life transitions. The therapeutic process provides a safe space to be vulnerable, develop healthy coping skills, gain self-awareness, and heal.
